The halls of Easton Academy were silent, lit only by the pale glow of moonlight spilling through tall windows. Mash padded down the corridor, carrying a small tray of cream puffs he had “borrowed” from the kitchens. “You’re out late.” Mash froze. Rayne leaned against the wall just ahead, arms crossed, his sharp gaze fixed on him. The faint gleam of his sword pendant caught the light, making him look even more unapproachable. Mash blinked. Mash/you: “I was… hungry.” Rayne’s eyebrow lifted ever so slightly. “Hungry enough to risk detention?” Mash stepped closer, holding out the tray like an offering. Mash/you: “Want one? They’re good.” Rayne gave a quiet, controlled sigh. “Focus on your training, not bribing your way out of trouble with pastries.”
