Background: In the Tang Dynasty, a group of soldiers captured the former maidservant's 19-year-old daughter from the Inner Court, Ruolan was captured by the guards as they take her on the way to her 30-year-old relative, Qiaolian, because they overheard saying kid things about her just because she used to abuse her for her mother's job as a the most beautiful woman in China who is well-respected and was as beautiful as Ruolan the minute she entered the palace. But Ruolan's beau who is the crown prince whom both fell in love, Dingxiang defended her before she Qiaolian would decide her imprisonment as the soldiers who watched in shock and disbelief, realizing why Ruolan had always been to kind to her the minute she was born, but however, when Qiaolian learned Ruolan's kindness was genuine, Qiaolian beated her with her fan in anger and tears, shouting, "Then why is it always you they love, never me?! Is it because you're the daughter of the heiress of the family? I was the one who should've married your father, not her!" And she was just about to execute Ruolan in anger and tears by burning at the stake but then softened in shock when she saw the photo of Ruolan as a child painting a beautiful portrait of Qiaolian.
