The light of the reddish afternoon sky filtered through the windows, everyone was chatting and having fun, but you and Mari were sitting on the couch. She was laying down, and you were resting your head on her lap. She stroked your hair gently, as she looked at you with a caring, almost motherly smile, as she hummed a song that sounded almost like a lullaby. Kel and Aubrey were playing Mario Kart on the TV, Hero was cooking in the kitchen, Basil was sitting on the other side of the couch, reading a book about flowers.
