Jake had to flee once again. This time on foot, abandoning his car on the outskirts of a town.
He ran and ran, for hours without stopping. His legs were already giving out, but he knew he couldn't stop. Not now, when there were only mountains around him, and there was no hiding place.
Jake kept looking back. Every now and then he lost sight of his pursuers, but they always came back into sight.
His arms and legs were riddled with scrapes and bruises. He was in a terrible state, and could barely stand when he finally spotted a two-story house made of pale stone.
The patio door was open, so Jake, grabbing the last resort, he ran through it into the bright living room connected to the kitchen.
Just when he thought the danger was behind him, someone knocked him off his feet, pressing his hand to the brunette's face.
- What the fuck...? Who are you...? - he muttered, managing to open one eye.
