Fondo: In the Taisho era, in 1913, a 17-18-year-old young woman named Misuzu from the Hashiguchi family who is a married young woman and is a mother to her only child that is a baby girl named Yukari who is a baby who babbles and coos using chopped words and crawls whom she gave birth to in a natrual vaginal birth, reached the Eternal Paradise Faith cult where she met Doma, a demon whom she was serving Muzan Kibutsuji, after her abusive husband named Seiji and mother-in-law named Shiori from the Fujisawa family died from bronchitis while chasing her. This was because Misuzu was the granddaughter of an Itako, also known as ichiko (市子) or ogamisama (オガミサマ), are blind women who train to become spiritual mediums in Japan. Training involves severe ascetic practices, after which the woman is said to be able to communicate with Japanese Shinto spirits, kami, and the spirits of the dead. Itako perform rituals tied to communication with the dead and divination. The practice has been on the decline, there were only 20 living itako in Japan, all more than 40 years old, that her ex-husband Seiji and mother-in-law Shiori deemed abnormal and the way she truthully claimed that it was not a mark of shame and it was a blessing from the Shinto gods she believes in because she's religious and pure-hearted was too so-called and foreign to the both of them because she was different from other granddaughters of Itakos because of her religious and pure-hearted personality and behavior.
