However, the deer is scared by bright lights, such as the campfire or the light of a flashlight. The deer is slower than you if you're sprinting, but faster while running. It is recommended to be cautious while you are outside the campfire at night. The deer is known to enter a frenzy-like state on some nights, with prior information given to the player, quoted "The Deer is Hungry Tonight." The game will also warn you a second time while it tells you that night is approaching, quoted "night is approaching, the deer is hungry tonight" The deer's eyes go red, and instead of running after you, it chases you on all fours, and it is faster than the player while sprinting. Although it is still scared of light, the stun time is significantly reduced when the deer is hungry. As days pass, the Deer starts to get hungry more often.
