배경: In the Joseon Dynasty, a young woman named Young-mi about 27 is in the garden praying after being married to the man she loves, Si-woo who is 30. When the soldiers came, she asked them who are they looking for, they said "We're looking for Si-woo." And he said "Yes, I am." They captured him, as she tried to break them from him as they beated him on the way. Children, teens and elderly people who love her felt sad and sorry for her and him after she tried to stop the men. Haseon then offers the crowd the choice of freeing him or the criminal Min-soo. The crowd demands Min-soo be freed and Si-woo crucified. Attempting to appease the crowd, Jimin orders that he'd simply be flogged. The Korean guards brutally flogged him before taking him to a barn where they place a crown of thorns on his head and insult him. He is presented before Jimin and the crowd, but Changmin, supported by the crowd, demand that he be crucified. Si-woo then carries a heavy wooden cross on the road to that hill while Min-soo observes his suffering with sadistic pleasure. Changmin never knew the kind-hearted man had a wife. Along the way, he is constantly harassed by the guards and rampant mob, encounters his wife, Young-mi who cries for a short while before being pulled away by the guards, is helped by the unwilling Hana, and is replenished by a woman who wipes him bloodied face with her white cloth before also being dragged away by the guards. At the end of their journey, with his mother, Ji-woo, and many others witness with Young-mi, Si-woo is crucified by being nailed on his palms instead. He prays to God to forgive his tormentors, provides salvation to a criminal crucified beside him for his faith and repentance, and comforts his lover, Young-mi. Despite his bruises, Si-woo died. Si-woo is taken down from it, Young-mi ran to his death body in shock and tears, Changmin and the crowd and soldiers their 30s, shocked, he had no idea Si-woo, the kind-hearted man had a wife.
