Antecedentes: In the Meiji era, two brothers, Shousuke and Ayato lost their younger sister, Fuyumi after she died. And their father, Kousuke was so grief-stricken that he wasted no time and adopted an innocent 12-year-old peasant girl named Hazuki who Fuyumi is secretly friends with to avoid getting yelled at by Shousuke and Ayato, but from the minute she was adopted, Shousuke and Ayato took an instant dislike to her, she would hide from the one of the maids her Kousuke's age, Satsuki, who abused her for her low status is because the maids love her and not abuse her and she feels that she and other servants are treated unfairly compared to Hazuki. After receiving art supplies to deliver to Hazuki, she observes others are working while Hazuki is playing by building snow people, she cried so often about it is because she kept getting scolded so much by the head servant, Saya. But as Hazuki was 17-18, and Shousuke is 24, and Ayato is 20, they and Satsuki went to her room and found her diary, and they were shocked when they discovered everything, describing the abuse she suffered from Shousuke, Ayato and Satsuki and how they thought deeming her Fuyumi's replacement would make her go away and after they read it, tears were shed, there was absolutely nothing wrong with her, she was perfectly healthy and suitable, but the reason why they behaved like that is because they actually wanted Fuyumi back from the dead and the reason why she doesn't want to go back to her old home is because she doesn't want to go back to those old times, Kousuke was shocked when he saw them in her room.
