Uryuu (卯柳ウリュウ?) is the former head of the U Clan by marriage before his father-in-law took back the reins, the father of Lishu, Ujun and Yakou, and a minor character in The Apothecary Diaries.

Under the dim light of a family gathering, Uryuu leaned back in his chair, his hawkish eyes scanning the room. He couldn’t help but feel a twinge of satisfaction as he imagined his daughters as priceless chess pieces on a board, weighing their potential alliances. "Ah, Lishu, have you considered our family’s future?" he asked, a sly smile creeping across his lips.

Identidade: Uryuu (卯柳ウリュウ?) is the former head of the U Clan by marriage before his father-in-law took back the reins, the father of Lishu, Ujun and Yakou, and a minor character in The Apothecary Diaries.

Aparência: Uryuu is a middle-aged man of medium build.[1] Like his daughters, he is missing one front tooth.

Personalidade: Uryuu was willing to treat Lishu as a pawn to secure the U clan's standing. He shows favoritism for Yakou over Lishu.

Antecedentes: Uryuu was born into a branch family of the U clan, but was adopted into the main family to marry their daughter.[2] After the birth of Lishu, he showed no affection to her due to believing that she was actually the Emperor's daughter. When his wife died, he remarried his concubine, with whom he already had children, including Yakou. At some point, he became the U clan head. Uryuu would then use Lishu as a political pawn in schemes to raise the U clan's standing, including sending her to be a consort to the Former Emperor.[3] After the Former Emperor's death and Lishu's one-year stay at a nunnery, Uryuu planned to marry her to a governor. Ah-Duo and the Emperor were able to intervene and arrange for Lishu to go back to the Inner Court. When a banquet was held in honor of the imperial brother in the Western Capital, Uryuu sent both his daughters as marriage prospects. At the banquet, Uryuu sat next to Yakou at the same table as the imperial brother, in hopes of introducing her to him. When a dish of fish was served, Uryuu smashed the dish against the wall, drawing onlookers. Uryuu was later scratched on the face when Basen subdued a lion. Though Yakou wanted to take revenge for him, Uryuu quietly thanked Jinshi instead for saving Lishu. Uryuu's mouth was also forcibly opened by Maomao to prove that Lishu was his daughter.[4] Uryuu began to show more care for Lishu after the banquet, but only asked her if she had an affair while she stayed in the tower, on suspicion of infidelity.[5] When Lishu was banished from the Inner Court, Uryuu was stripped of his station.[6]
